2016 Has finally arrived and some of the greatest events and music festivals are right around the corner including the one and only South By South West (SXSW).  Here are some of our top picks for the month of February. 

FUMP Family Music Festival – February 6th
The FUMP Family Music Festival will celebrate its 13th year of providing fun family-friendly music, arts and crafts, games and more!
The festival serves as a fundraiser for FUMP, which provides affordable, top-notch preschool education for Austin families.

Hot Rods and Hatters Festival & Car – February 6th, Lockhart, TX

Hot Rods and Hatters Festival & Car Show is an annually held event with a Rockabilly vibe and over 200 cars from Classics to Hot Rods. There are several categories of cars on display with top entries being selected in areas including Best Antique, Best Bike and Best in Show. The event also features live music, automotive and Rockabilly gear and Rockabilly makeovers.

The 12th Street East End Black Heritage Festival – February 2016 Austin, TX

The 12th Street East End Black Heritage Festival is held annually in February to honor Black History Month. The tradition began as a Black Community Market Place to promote Cooperative Economics. The Market Place is still a key feature of the event, which now also offers performances by talented musicians and dancers, youth art activities, delicious food and more.

 AFTM Mid-Winter Festival – February 6th, 2016. Austin, TX 

Austin Friends of Traditional Music's Mid-Winter Festival is all about making, learning, listening to and enjoying music. The day is filled with performances, workshops, jamming, silent auctions and more. Workshops give participants of all skill levels a window into a variety of folk traditions.

Austin Marathon and Half Marathon - February 14th, 2016. Austin, TX.

The Austin Marathon and Half Marathon is an annual February race featuring a course running through the heart of Austin. People travel from all over to participate in either the 13.1-mile half marathon or the 26.2-mile marathon. Water stops are set up every few miles along the course, powered by volunteers. Following the race, food vendors and athletic retailers set up tents along the finish line on South Congress, just south of the Capitol. Loud music blasts from speakers along the course to pump up runners, and spectators are encouraged to cheer on the runners and make some noise.

One by One Texas – February 2016.

One by One Texas is a three-day celebration of the best photographers on Instagram. This statewide art showcase features a variety of mobile photography from both local and international artists. Dozens of artists are featured in the festival’s exhibit with art sales going to help tech-based non-profits. It’s a wonderful event for those interested in blending the world of online aesthetics with the offline art world.

Teen and Bridal Expo – February 21st, 2016.  Austin, TX.

Jugglefest XXIII - February 26-28, 2016. Austin, TX

Celebrating its 23nd year, Jugglefest is a three-day event full of workshops, games, demonstrations, and shows featuring juggling, unicycling, and related circus arts. Everyone is welcome to come on down to pick up the basics, learn some new tricks, meet some crazy people or just chill out and watch.

Austin Oyster Festival – February 27th, 2016. Austin, TX

Whether you like your oysters raw, grilled, roasted or fried, the Austin Oyster Festival has something for you. This annual event celebrates the oyster but also offers a variety of seafood and other delicious eats. Wine, craft beer and specialty cocktails are available, and live Cajun and bluegrass music keeps the party going through the afternoon.
